SBS Win!
Pictured with Theo Paphitis receiving my SBS award and my gift I illustrated for him of his beautiful dog Gladys.
Last year something wonderful happened, I was chosen as a Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday winner and received a business boost, on social media, from retail entrepreneur and former Dragons Den star Theo to his half a million Twitter and Instagram followers.
I was sat watching TV in the evening when I realised I had won and couldn't believe it! As a winner you become part of the SBS network set up by Theo, one of the UK's largest and most exclusive networks with over 4000 members (made up of 80% women and 50% sole traders).
I was invited to the ICC in Birmingham on Friday 23rd February to attend the fantastic SBS event where I got to meet the man himself and collect my award.
The day was packed with insightful talks that motivated and engaged the audience. Theo shared his tips for success, while Google and NatWest delivered inspiring presentations and we got to hear success stories from former SBS winners. The highlight was a fireside chat with entrepreneur Stacey Solomon, interviewed by Theo, who was a true inspiration and who captivated the crowd with her words and advice.
“Winning SBS has to be one of my proudest moments. My business is still very young so to receive support and recognition from Theo and to be part of such a wonderful network really has given me the confidence boost I needed, reinforced the belief in what I’m doing and raised the profile of the business. I feel excited for the future.”
The day is organised and hosted by Theo with the sole purpose to create a community and and network, he really is a true advocate for small businesses!
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Jo Couch Illustration every success.”
This is without doubt a super proud moment which has left me feeling excited for the future of Jo Couch Illustration.
